Spring Grove Fire Protection District receives funds for protective gear
It was an opportunity to help those who help Spring Grove community.
Country Financial Representative David Steffenhagen recently presented the Spring Grove Fire Protection District with a donation of $1,500.
The funds will be used to purchase ballistics protective gear for rescue dogs used by the firefighters. The funds were presented at the district's most recent board meeting.
"Many are unaware that the work of firefighters is often helped by support dogs," said Steffenhagen. "These trained dogs track the scent of everyone from criminals to potential fire victims. The dogs also can detect drugs, contraband, and fire accelerants. I'm gratified to support this often-overlooked element of firefighting with the protective gear these animals require to do their work and stay safe."
Country Financial has donated more than $5 million since 2020 to organizations and programs that support first responders, active-duty service members and veterans, supporting the company's vision to "enrich lives in the communities we serve."
The Operation Helping Heroes program was created in 2015 to support non-profit events and programs that benefit active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. Later, the program expanded to include first responders and teachers.
