The 26th annual Life Time Chicago Half Marathon & 5K, presented by HOKA, took over Chicago's exclusive Lake Shore Drive and historic south side neighborhoods on Sept. 24, offering participants an unparalleled running experience. Event owner and producer, Life Time welcomed athletes ranging in age from eight to 90 years old, representing 48 states and 32 countries, who participated in the Kids Run Chicago, 5K, and half marathon distances.

Race weekend kicked off on a high note with the lively and energetic Pre-Race Party at Chicago's state-of-the-art heliport, Vertiport Chicago, on Friday and Saturday, followed by the renowned event on Sunday morning. The half marathon race started the day with the para athletes, followed by the mass start. Thirty-five minutes later, the 5K para athletes toed the start line, followed by the rest of the runners. The Kids Run Chicago concluded the day's races with a 10 a.m. start.

This year the event saw a special record being set. Dot Sowerby, a 90-year-old Greensboro, N.C. native, has set the American women's LDR half marathon record in the 90-94 age group, running 3:33:47 hours (pending ratification) to cover the half marathon distance.

We witnessed the successful realization of the Pre-Race Party, offering our athletes a truly unique and engaging experience like never before. We also got to watch the setting of a remarkable half marathon record, which was truly awe-inspiring!," said Allison Humbert Wilkinson, Senior Marketing Manager for Life Time Athletic Events.
