Geneva High theater presents 'The Internet is Distract- Oh, Look a Kitten!' Sept. 29-30
On Sept. 29-30, Geneva High School's freshman actors will be taking audiences on a hilarious adventure through the internet.
A relatable story for all ages, "The Internet is Distract- Oh, Look a Kitten!" is the show to see this fall.
It tells the story of Micah, who has 20 minutes before school starts to finish her Great Gatsby paper. Along the way she runs into some very interesting friends, including Amazon, Facebook, Wikipedia, and even Google. Micah tries to avoid distraction so that she can finish the paper on time.
Director Olivia Frullani says that this cast has been hard at work to get this show performance ready.
"The rehearsal process has been fantastic," Frullani said. "We've blocked the entire show, which if you think about theater, is wild. We started rehearsing a week ago and we've been running the show, stopping and fine tuning, but we are in a fantastic spot to just rock it."
Frullani says that this group of underclassmen are having a blast with the rehearsal process and are excited to make their Geneva theater debuts.
Mackenzie Collins, who plays the "stereotypical" popular girl Jenny, has loved her experience in her first high school production. "We're all here to have fun but we also work really hard, and everybody here is really welcoming," Collins said.
Cast member Talia Eichelberger, who plays the lead role of Micha, shared why she thinks audiences should come to the show. "I think that adults can relate to it because they're always saying that the internet is so bad for you," she said. "I think it's very relevant to teenagers and the digital world that we live in right now."
If you're hesitant to come to a production that is all about the internet, worried you will miss every reference, student director Meghan Monroe says you don't need to be an internet expert to enjoy this production.
"It's a very funny show and it has a lot of very recognizable elements," Monroe said. "It's very approachable because everyone's going to know all the references, you don't need any context going into it and it makes fun of things that everybody deals with in their own life."

Adults are $7, seniors and students are $5, and kids under age 6 are free.
Going to see the hilarious and creative adventure that is, "The internet is a Distract- Oh Look A Kitten," should be at the top of everyone's to do list this September.
