Learn about one of the Salem Witch Trials victims at Glen Ellyn Historical Society program

Historian Jessica Michna will present "Goode Rebeka Nurse: The Salem Witch Trials" at a Glen Ellyn Historical Society program on Saturday, Oct. 7.

It will begin at 2 p.m.in the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St.

It was a new world. The settlers from England had gained a foothold in the verdant land called, "Amerika."

Old traditions were put aside, new ones instituted. Greed, jealousy, suspicion would persist. Was this the root of "The Salem Witch Trials?"

Innocent residents of Salem, Massachusetts, like Rebeka Nurse, were tried and executed in the most deadly chapter of American history.

Learn the true story of one these unlucky residents, portrayed by Michna. The 71-year-old woman was accused of witchcraft and was one of 19 people executed by hanging during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692.

Admission is $10 or $8 for Glen Ellyn Historical Society members.
