Sept. 18-19: Actors needed for 'Picasso at the Lapin Agile' auditions

Actors 18 and older are invited to audition for the College of Lake County (CLC) Theatre department's fall production of "Picasso at the Lapin Agile." Auditions are at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18 and Tuesday, Sept. 19 in the Grayslake Campus Studio Theatre. Community members are welcome to audition - you do NOT need to be a CLC student to participate in theatre productions.

This long-running off-Broadway comedy places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before the renowned scientist transformed physics with his theory of relativity and the celebrated painter set the art world afire with cubism. Mixing the sublime with the ridiculous, Martin plays fast and loose with fact, fame and fortune as these two geniuses muse on the century's achievements and prospects with infectious dizziness.

"In this show, written by the hilarious Steve Martin, we are asked to compare art, science and consumerism and examine how these three things, that might seem diametrically opposed to each other at first, are more similar than they appear," said Director Dylan Roberts. "I'm very excited to introduce this piece of work to a new generation of artists as it was one of my favorites from when I was a college student."

Actors need only attend one audition, not both, and should bring an acting resume if they have one. Callbacks will be on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m.

Rehearsals will begin the week of Oct. 2. Rehearsals are Monday through Thursday evenings with possible weekend rehearsals, based on cast availability, until tech week. Performances are Friday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 12 and Thursday, Nov. 16 through Saturday, Nov. 18. Auditioners must have these dates free to practice and perform.
