Poplar Cree Library wants residents to sign up for a card

September is Library Card Signup Month, a time when libraries nationwide remind everyone about the valuable resources available with a library card.

From borrowing books, eBooks and audiobooks, to getting homework help, learning new skills or attending a book club or story time, a library card helps everyone do more of what they enjoy.

Stop by the Poplar Creek Library's Studio 1405 makerspace, on the lower level of the Main Library, to try out a 3D printer or sewing machine. Visit the Extraordinary Things collection, where you can check out a variety of items such as a fishing pole, novelty cake pan, or electric guitar - all available with your library card.

Keep an eye out for the library's surprise mascot, Fabler Bear, all around Streamwood, Hanover Park and at Mobile Library stops.

When spotted, snap a picture and bring it to the Main Library to receive a small prize and be entered into a drawing to win a stuffed Fabler Bear of your very own. Watch the library's Facebook page for hints about his whereabouts.

And, in September, kids who sign up for a library card at Poplar Creek Public Library will receive a goody bag, while supplies last.

To sign up for a library card, or to learn more about the library's resources and programs, visit pclib.org or call (630) 837-6800.
