Jury finds Ingleside man guilty of aggravated DUI in fatal crash

A Lake County jury found a 41-year-old Ingleside man guilty on one count of aggravated DUI resulting in death last week, prosecutors announced Monday.

The verdict means Brian J. King will receive up to 14 years in prison.

Witnesses said King was swerving while driving his Chrysler sedan along Route 59 in Ingleside in the early evening on June 3, 2021. Officials said that as he approached Stanton Point Road, King swerved out of his lane and struck 53-year-old Ingleside resident Michael Brennan, who was walking on grass and gravel next to the shoulder of Route 59.

Brennan was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition. He died of his injuries nearly two weeks later on June 16. King was not injured in the crash.

King's sentencing hearing is set for Sept. 13.
