Local artist creates figurine for 20th anniversary of collectible company, The Trail of Painted Ponies

Artist Kathleen Longueil won an Honorable Mention in The Trail of Painted Ponies 20th Anniversary Art Competition in 2021. Her design "Ocean Dreams" was chosen to be crafted into a figurine for The Trail of Painted Ponies Winter 2023 release, which marks 20 years since the release of the very first Trail of Painted Ponies figurines, in Winter 2003. The "Ocean Dreams" figurine is now in stock at retailers across the United States, Canada and Australia, and online.

"Ocean Dreams," The Trail of Painted Ponies writes: "The artistic inspiration for a Painted Pony often comes at unexpected times. This artist was enjoying a meal at a favorite restaurant in Maui when she noticed a picture on the wall of a woman wearing a beautiful flower lei around her neck. Her look was both calming and relaxing, a feeling the artist wanted to recreate by imagining a beautiful lei-draped horse walking along the beaches of Maui, taking in the soothing sounds of the ocean waves."

The Trail of Painted Ponies received hundreds of design submissions from artists in the United States, and all around the world, to celebrate their 20 years of collectible Painted Ponies figurines and ornaments. One of the premier horse collectible and giftware companies in the world, The Trail of Painted Ponies chooses to craft select designs submitted by artists and releases them at least twice per year as figurines and ornaments. Kathleen writes "I don't really consider myself an artist, however, I did win a few art awards in school. I am creative and love Hawaii, so my Pony was originally named 'Leilani,' which is Hawaiian for 'Royal Child.'"
