Tinley Park's 'Project Fire Buddies' Receives Operation Helping Heroes Donation
Firefighters are heroes by nature, but for some, their commitment to community extends beyond their chosen profession. Such is the case with Tinley Park firefighters and their involvement in "Project Fire Buddies," an organization that supports young people battling critical illnesses.
Recently, COUNTRY Financial Representative Dan Gallivan was pleased to support Project Fire Buddies, Inc. with a donation to support firefighters and their efforts. Gallivan recently presented a donation of $1,500 to Project Fire Buddies CEO Kurt DeGroot.
"For me, Project Fire Buddies was a no brainer to sponsor," said Gallivan. "Watching the smiles and laughter that Project Fire Buddies brings to the children in need and their families is a breathtaking sight. I am a very lucky guy to be able to be a small part of this movement, which is doing so many wonderful things for these children."
Project Fire Buddies assembles firefighters who care about bringing joy to kids struggling with critical illnesses. These firefighter volunteers visit homes, play games, read books, and bring gifts for special occasions.
"We're grateful for this support from Dan and COUNTRY Financial," said DeGroot. "Dan has worked hand in hand with us to assist several children. He truly knows the meaning of helping the most vulnerable in our community."

COUNTRY Financial has donated more than $5 million since 2020 to organizations and programs that support teachers, first responders, active-duty service members and veterans, supporting the company's vision to "enrich lives in the communities we serve." The Operation Helping Heroes program was created in 2015 to support non-profit events and programs that benefit active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. Later, the program expanded to include first responders and teachers.
