Eagle rank earned by Palatine Scout
Palatine resident Jeremy Glab, a rising sophomore at William Fremd High School, earned the rank of Eagle Scout in June.
The Eagle Scout badge, the highest rank in Boy Scouts of America (BSA) scouting, is widely recognized as a mark of distinction both within and outside of scouting. Once earned, it is worn for life.
Jeremy began his scouting career in Palatine Cub Scout Pack 209. He bridged into BSA Scout Troop 209, and served in a variety of leadership positions including den chief, patrol leader and troop webmaster, where he took on the task of building a new website for Troop 209.
Jeremy's Eagle Project involved cleaning up an aging cemetery in Southwest Wisconsin and GPS mapping of the gravesites. The GPS markers and data allow families and genealogy sites to locate the information of the folks interred at the cemetery.
In addition to camping and other outdoor activities, Jeremy earned 33 merit badges on his trail to Eagle. Two of his favorites were Farm Mechanics and Aviation. Following completion of his studies at Fremd, he plans on attending college and pursuing a career in agriculture.
