Fremont School District 79 Announces a Pair of Administrative Hires

Fremont School District 79 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Trisha Kocanda has announced a pair of administrative hires for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. Nick Atchley is the new Assistant Principal of Fremont Middle School, while Alana Davidov is the new Assistant Principal of Fremont Intermediate School.

"We are thrilled to welcome Nick into this new role within the District and to add Alana to our talented administrative team," Kocanda said. "They both care deeply about student success and supporting staff in innovative and creative ways. Nick has done a superb job during his time at the intermediate school and we are excited to have him transition to the middle school, as he has extensive experience working with these grade levels. Alana stood out from a talented candidate pool due to her positive leadership approach that centers on relationships."

Atchley is no stranger to FSD79, having served as the assistant principal at Fremont Intermediate School since 2020. Prior to joining Fremont, he spent 13 years at Parkland School, a middle school in McHenry, where he served as the band director and then dean of students.

Atchley earned his bachelor's degree in music education from University of Missouri at Kansas City, while earning master's degrees from VanderCook College of Music and Northeastern Illinois University.

"I am very excited to join the Fremont Middle School team," Atchley said. "Fremont is a wonderful place and I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the middle school staff and students. I look forward to continuing to support our Fremont students in their journey to high school and becoming young adults."

Davidov joins the Fremont team after most recently serving as a fifth-grade teacher at Lions Park School in Mount Prospect since 2018. During her career, she has primarily taught intermediate grade levels and served on various leadership committees at the school and district levels. This summer, she is serving as the Extended School Year (ESY) Principal at Fairview Elementary School in Mt. Prospect.

Davidov earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Northeastern Illinois University as well as master's degrees from American College of Education and North Park University.

"I am very excited to join the Fremont community and to learn from the staff and students at Fremont Intermediate School," said Davidov. "I am passionate about the education of our future generations and strive to support growth and confidence for every student as they become successful life-long learners."

Fremont School District 79 is a preschool through eighth-grade public school district serving more than 2,100 students. It serves students from the communities of Grayslake, Hawthorn Woods, Libertyville, Long Grove, Mundelein, Round Lake, and Wauconda.
