I-94 crash victim identified as Evanston man

The victim of a single-car crash Tuesday on Interstate 94 has been identified as an Evanston man.

The Lake County coroner's office said Wednesday that Anthony Jimenez, 20, died from blunt-force injuries.

The crash occurred about 6 p.m. Tuesday on the eastbound Edens Spur near milepost 28, the news release said.

Jimenez was driving a 2007 Cadillac sport-utility vehicle when he veered off the right shoulder and struck a guardrail, according to the coroner's office. Jimenez, who was ejected from the SUV, was taken to Highland Park Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room, the news release said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
