Waste hauler serving Mount Prospect picks up national award

The Mount Prospect village board recently honored Felix Martinez, who's been named the National Waste and Recycling Association's 2023 Residential Driver of the Year.

The association recognizes drivers who safely operate their trucks, maintain an exceptional performance record and enhance the overall safety and image of the environmental services industry.

Martinez has worked as a for Republic Services for 26 years, employed exclusively as a residential driver in Mount Prospect since 2016.

He was among nearly 800 nominees nationwide. They are scored based on the difficulty of their routes and such factors as number of pickups and weekly miles traveled, as well as feedback from customers.
