Creating Community through Swim Lesson Scholarships
Mount Prospect Lions Club & River Trails Park District partner together to provide scholarship opportunities for the "Learn to Swim Academy Program."

The Mount Prospect Lions Club has donated $5,000 to the River Trails Park & Recreation Foundation, which will be delegated toward the district's learn to swim program. This generous donation from the Mount Prospect Lions Club will be providing scholarships to children in the local area who need financial assistance and would like to learn how to swim.
As the summer season begins, the Swim Lesson Academy Program provides recreational and health benefits and teaches an important life safety skill. River Trails Park District strives for the Swim Lesson Academy to be a highlight in each child's summer by providing safety, fun and a love for swimming.
"We are thankful for this new partnership with the Mount Prospect Lions Club. It is great when organizations come together to offer services to the community. We are very excited to offer at-risk children the opportunity to learn how to swim in our program," said Bret Fahnstrom, executive director of River Trails Park District.
The River Trails Park District's Swim Lesson Academy is structured around flexibility that allows each child to progress at their own pace. Lessons are taught by qualified instructors and occur outside at Woodland Trails Pool, 1500 E. Euclid Ave., in Mount Prospect.
Parents, neighbors or friends who would like to enroll in River Trails Park District's Swim Lesson Academy and need financial assistance can do so through this new scholarship program by visiting www.rtpd.org, calling (847) 255-1200 or stopping into the Weiss Community Center, 1500 E. Euclid Ave., Mount Prospect, to pick up a scholarship application.
Swim lessons run throughout the summer season.
