Aurora African American Health Coalition to host 16th annual Community Health Fair

The Aurora African American Health Coalition will hold its 16th annual Community Health Fair from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 10, at Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora.

This year's theme is "Health and Wellness Matter."

The coalition partners with Kane County Health Department, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Jewel Osco, Ascension, and HealthChoice Illinois.

The free event is open to the public and will feature exhibits and free comprehensive health screenings.

There are 37 tests included in the package. Men requesting prostate specific antigen (PSA) who are least age 45 or have a hereditary prostate cancer risk will receive the test at no cost.

In addition, there will be a live DJ for entertainment, exercise demos to get your body moving, and fun activities for the kids. They will have hourly raffles and big giveaways such as lots of fresh produce and household essentials. There will be plenty of healthy snacks and quick treats for the family.

To register for the free screening, visit empower.health/ and enter client code AAAHFEHS.

Screenings are from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. No food or drink (except water) for 8 hours before. Please drink 1 to 2 glasses of water about 1 to 2 hours before your screening. Do take any prescribed medications if it is safe to do so without food.
