Mundelein's Beautification Committee Invites Community to Spring into Summer Family Festival

Mundelein's Beautification Committee, in partnership with Tighthead Brewery, has planned a family-friendly Spring into Summer Festival from noon to 4 p.m. June 3 at Tighthead Brewery, 161 N. Archer Ave., Mundelein.

The village participates in the National Wildlife Federation's "Mayor's Monarch Pledge" program to take actions to help save the monarch butterfly. Mayor Steve Lentz has proclaimed June 3 as "Mayor's Monarch Pledge Day" in Mundelein.

The half-day event will feature several children's activities, an expert presentation on native landscaping, food and music, information booths, and plant and seed giveaways.

"We're hoping this event will help to inform the community about the important work we're doing on the Beautification Committee and provide information on simple sustainability practices we can all implement to make a significant, positive impact in our community and our world," Mundelein Trustee Jenny Berman Ross said.

"We are very excited to welcome our keynote speaker, Kelsay Shaw, who is the founder and owner of Possibility Place, a native plant nursery. Kelsay will explain the role of the monarch butterfly and other pollinators in our world. He is an excellent speaker with a vitally important message that we all need to hear," she said.
