A message of unity and tolerance at Interfaith Ramadan Dinner

More than 100 people packed Monty's Elegant Banquets in Bensenville on Sunday, April 16, for an interfaith Ramadan dinner that featured Jewish, Christian, Hindu, and Sikh leaders preaching a message of unity and tolerance.

The annual Interfaith Iftar and Dinner was hosted by well-known Indian community leaders Iftekhar Shareef and Aftab Baig for the community. The purpose of the Iftar dinner was to promote the message of interfaith and religious harmony. Iftekhar Shareef said on the occasion that interfaith harmony is the need of the hour, and such events promote mutual love. "All the religions have similar teachings regarding the importance of peace and justice," he said.

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi addressed the gathering as keynote speaker. His message focused on the benefit that religion has brought to humanity. All of the speakers, including DuPage County attorney Azam Nizamuddin, Streamwood Park District board vice president Raees Yawer, and Gain Peace Project executive director Dr. Sabeel Ahmed highlighted the importance of strengthenĀ­ing and developing of interfaith relations in America.

The dinner was specially attended by leaders and members of different parts of life of thought, community leaders, Vijay Prabhakar, Prachi Jaitly, Kishor Metha Sam Pitroda, Niranjan Shah, and others.

Iftekhar Shareef and Aftab Baig thanked all those in attendance for participating in this event to strengthen peace and harmony.
