Earth Fair at Elk Grove Village Public Library

Elk Grove Village Public Library, 1001 Wellington Ave., is hosting its second annual Earth Fair Saturday, April 22. Explore a world of ideas and get inspired about ways to help save the planet.

The fair is geared toward all ages, with information booths, crafts, DIY workshops and other fun activities. Face painting will be available from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Living Green in EGV group will be making upcycled garden crafts and seed tape with visitors.

Students from Elk Grove High School's Earth Guardians will be on hand to show the work they do on the high school's pollinator garden.

Visitors can play the Recycling Sorting game and get recycling information from the village of Elk Grove.

For those interested in composting and sustainable living, Elk Grove Library's Rick Avalos will be answering questions and offering tips.

The library will have Earth-friendly trivia questions to answer, free honey sticks and wildflower seeds (while supplies last), and everyone can make their own Earth Day button.

Special presentations include:

• Noon: "Attracting Birds & Bees to Your Yard & Garden," Michele George from the Elk Grove Garden Club

• 1 p.m.: "You Can Bike There! Using Your Bike for Everyday Trips," Dave Simmons from Friends of Cycling in Elk Grove

• 2 p.m.: "How to Help Monarch Butterflies Survive & Thrive," Ned Bruns from Schaumburg Monarch Initiative
