CASA Lake County Raises Awareness for April Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is recognized nationally as Child Abuse Prevention Month and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Lake County is raising awareness about the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect.

Child abuse is a significant problem in the United States, with more than 3.5 million reports of child abuse and neglect each year. CASA Lake County, a nonprofit organization that provides advocacy and support for abused and neglected children in the court system, is dedicated to helping protect children from harm.

Throughout the month of April, CASA Lake County will be raising awareness about child abuse prevention with events and activities to help recruit more volunteer advocates. Some of the activities planned include a social media campaign, participation in the Antioch Easter Parade, a brunch fundraiser supporting CASA at Feather Glass Wine Bar & Eatery in Vernon Hills on April 15th and April 16th, and displays and information at the Robert W. Depke Juvenile Complex, schools, libraries, and over 20 Starbucks stores across Lake County.

"We are committed to ensuring that every child in Lake County has a safe and loving home," said Terri Zenner Greenberg, Executive Director. "We hope that our efforts during Child Abuse Prevention Month will inspire others to join us in this important work."
