Touhy Avenue bridge repairs begin Monday

Repairs to the Touhy Avenue bridge over the Des Plaines River in Des Plaines and Park Ridge will begin weather permitting on Monday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

To complete the work, Touhy Avenue, between River and Dee roads, will be reduced to one lane in both directions, with lane widths reduced to 10 feet over the bridge, IDOT said.

The repairs are expected to be complete by the end of August. Officials said motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for travel.
