CLC's literary arts magazine 'Prairie Voices' wins second-place award

Prairie Voices, the premier student literary arts magazine at College of Lake County (CLC), won second place in the Central Division for the 2022 annual Community College Humanities Association Contest. The magazine also won second place in 2019 and first place in 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2014.

CLC student Eric Polanski of Gurnee won recognition for his short story, "Sally's Seashell Expedition."

"I am pleased our magazine won the second-place award two years in a row, and several first places," said Prairie Voices Editor and English and Humanities Instructor Dr. Nicholas Schevera. "For many students, this is their first time being published, and their faculty mentors are extremely excited for them."

This publication is a joint effort by many people, including the 19 writers and 24 artists who contributed poetry, prose and artwork; the faculty; the staff in Public Relations and Marketing and art editor Bob Lossmann.

Copies of Prairie Voices are available in the Communication Arts, Humanities and Fine Arts division office in room B213 at the Grayslake Campus.

Celebrate the many talents of CLC students in both writing and art during the annual Prairie Voices reading and reception 6-8 p.m. on May 4 in Room A011 at the Grayslake Campus. Complimentary copies of the magazine will be available.
