Hampshire High student receives Golden Hammer Scholarship

The Golden Hammer Scholarship was established to honor Carl F. Brooks, the longest serving principal of Hampshire High School and Middle School.

Brooks began his career in Community Unit District 300 as an industrial education teacher; later becoming the head of district transportation and finally Hampshire's principal.

The scholarship is designed to assist students of Hampshire High School majoring in a technical or trade field of study.

The 2023 Golden Hammer Scholarship recipient is Kelsey McIntyre.

She will receive $1,000 to further her educational goals. She plans on majoring in Engineering Technology and Manufacturing and has tentatively selected Illinois State University to continue her studies.
