Geneva church to screen 'Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution' Feb. 24

On Friday, Feb. 24, the Friday Flicks series continues with the documentary "Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution" at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva.

Fifty years ago, a summer camp run by hippies gave disabled teens an opportunity to experience full inclusion as human beings. Many of them found their voices at Camp Jened.

This 2020 prize-winning film shows how these activists made themselves heard as they fought for equal rights nationally.

A Sundance Film Festival prize-winner, this film was picked up by the Obama's Higher Ground Productions.

The free showing, open to the public, will start at 7 p.m. at the church, 102 S. Second St. Snacks will be available. An optional group discussion will follow the screening.

Interested moviegoers can find complete information at www.uusg.org/friday-flicks.

On the fourth Friday of each month, the community is invited to view and discuss documentaries examining timely issues important to social justice.
