Meet Wheaton's new fire chief

Wheaton's new fire chief will be sworn in during a city council meeting Tuesday night.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. on the second floor of city hall, 303 W. Wesley St. The city will then host a meet-and-greet with Fire Chief Robert Brill immediately after the council meeting.

Brill succeeds retired Chief Bill Schultz. Brill spent more than 20 years of his career with the Wilmette Fire Department, most recently as deputy chief.

Before he became a firefighter, Brill was a Palatine police officer.

He has a bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University, an executive fire officer designation from the National Fire Academy and a chief fire officer designation from the nonprofit Center for Public Safety Excellence.
