Fox River Grove Elementary District 3 names new superintendent

Fox River Grove Elementary District 3 is tapping a Morton Grove School District 70 administrator as its next superintendent.

District 3 officials announced that Matthew Mayer, who serves as an associate superintendent for District 70, will replace Superintendent Sandy Ozimek, who is retiring at the end of this school year. Mayer will start in his new position on July 1.

Mayer, who started his career as a social studies teacher in 2006, was selected from more than 41 applicants after a national search.

A McHenry resident, Mayer has held a number of leadership positions in various school districts and has served as assistant superintendent in Morton Grove since 2019.

District officials said Mayer and Ozimek will discuss transition plans, including opportunities for Mayer to shadow Ozimek starting next spring.
