OLI Gardens high school art contest honors fallen military
High school students in Aurora, Naperville, and Joliet are invited to submit works of art for a contest that will feature three cash prizes of $1,000, $500, and $250.
The winning art pieces will be copied and displayed on raised garden beds on public display in these three communities.
Qualifying art pieces will be on display at the Naperville 95th Street Library in late February and early March.
The contest is sponsored by OLI Gardens, a nonprofit that creates raised garden beds that are dedicated to fallen military and first responders.
The mission of OLI Gardens is to help eliminate food insecurity in our communities and all the fresh produce from these gardens is donated to local food pantries.
Several of these garden beds are currently displayed at Naper Settlement and at the Warren Sharpe Community Center in Joliet.
The theme of this contest is "Selfless."
Students may submit a work of art using any medium that will express what it means to be selfless to the world, selfless to our nation, selfless to our community, or selfless to neighbors in need.
