ECC Arts Center hosts scholar Clay S. Jenkinson on 'Shakespeare: The Magic of the Word' on Nov. 19

On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Elgin Community College Arts Center will host humanities scholar Clay S. Jenkinson at 7 p.m.

Jenkinson will present "Shakespeare: The Magic of the Word," a 90-minute performance featuring the recitation of great moments in Shakespeare, commentary, biographical details, discussions of great Shakespeare themes, and a practical guide to overcoming "Shakespeare Intimidation."

Best known for his award-winning historical impersonations of Thomas Jefferson, Jenkinson also impersonates other characters, including Meriwether Lewis, John Wesley Powell, Robert Oppenheimer, Theodore Roosevelt, and John Steinbeck.

A cultural commentator who has devoted most of his professional career to public humanities programs, Jenkinson has been honored by two presidents for his work.
