Schaumburg placed first in the 2022 Digital Cities Survey, which evaluates municipalities across the country and ranks their performance on a variety of technical fronts, officials announced recently.

Criteria for the ranking include strategic planning, constituent engagement, transparency, innovation, project management, network infrastructure and network security.

"This award acknowledges the dedication and hard work of the entire information technology team," said Peter Schaak, the village's director of information technology. "A first-place ranking is a recognition of their efforts that keep the village's robust and complex collection of systems and applications operating efficiently while being fiscally responsible. It is also their creativity and curiosity that keeps the organization at the forefront of new technologies."

The Center for Digital Government awarded Schaumburg first place in the category of municipalities with a population of up to 75,000.
