Girls tennis: New Trier takes second at state finals

New Trier placed second at the Class 2A girls tennis state finals Oct. 20-22.

The Trevians earned 29 points, second behind 2A champion Hinsdale Central's 32.

Madison Liu earned 10 points for New Trier, winning her first four singles matches before finishing in third place overall to Hinsdale Central's Sophia Kim, 6-4, 6-2. Julia Ross added 5 points in singles for the Trevians.

The doubles team of Keri Rothenberg and Lucy Parrilli placed fifth overall. The duo went 6-1 with victories in each of their last three matches,

Glenbrook North finished in a tie for eighth place. Singles player Katelyn Wu, and the doubles team of Camille Dziewonska and Ellie Peskin each went 3-2 and advanced into the fifth round of the consolation bracket. Rina Matsunaga added 4 points in singles.
