Learn about planting gourds at Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners meeting

Did you know that gourds are fruit? They can be eaten as well as used for decorative purposes.

Alice MacCallum will present "Growing Various Types of Gourds in Northern Illinois" at the next Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

It will begins with socializing at 6:45 p.m., followed by the business meeting and presentation at 7 p.m.

The meetings are held at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

MacCallum is a Master Gardener through the University of Illinois Extension, and has been serving as one for more than 15 years. She works as a volunteer tending the Northgate Garden in St. Charles and works with senior citizens through horticulture therapy at a local senior residence.
