Founders Day Festival on Oct. 8 celebrates Roselle's centennial

The village of Roselle is turning 100 this year, and the Roselle Park District is helping to host a birthday celebration for the entire community to enjoy on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The Roselle Founders Day Festival will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on the grounds of Clauss Recreation Center, 555 W. Bryn Mawr Ave.

From 2 to 6 p.m., there will be a Touch-a-Truck, corn maze, bounce house, rock wall, EuroBungy, zip line, and scarecrow crafts from the Roselle Park District Garden Club.

The Roselle Arts & Cultural Foundation is organizing a sponge art project from 2 to 7 p.m.

Check out the pumpkin patch and join in pumpkin decorating from 2 to 4 p.m. There also will be lawn games, a balloonist, and airbrush tattoos from 2 to 6:30 p.m.

The Roselle Lions Club, Lynfred Winery and Pollyanna Brewing Co. are hosting a beer and wine garden from 2 to 7 p.m.

There will be live music from Final Say from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and headliner 16 Candles from 5 to 6:30 p.m. before the fireworks show.

The fireworks display will start at dusk, about 6:45 p.m. from the Lake Park High School West Campus.

Admission is free. Seating will be limited for the concert and the fireworks. Plan to bring portable chairs.

Touch-a-Truck and food trucks, including Aunt Tina's Sound Bites, Billy Bricks, Hoot Dogs, Guapo Taco, EJ Pierogi, Dairy Queen, and Delish Cakes, will be lined up along Bryn Mawr Avenue during the festival.

Before the festival, the village of Roselle and the Roselle Arts and Culture Foundation will unveil the relief sculpture "The Railroad Comes to Roselle" by S. Michael Re. The unveiling, which will help mark the anniversary of the village's incorporation, will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, outside village hall, 31 S. Prospect St.
