Warrenville appoints new city administrator

Warrenville has a new city administrator, replacing the one who retired after being charged with public indecency.

Cristina White was appointed by the mayor and city council Tuesday, according to a news release from the city.

White had been acting city administrator since John Coakley was put on administrative leave. She had been the assistant city administrator since 2016, responsible for human resources, information technology, communications and special projects.

"Serving Warrenville has been a source of great pride. I am honored and grateful to the mayor and city council for providing me this opportunity to continue serving in this new role. I look forward to working in collaboration with the city council, city staff, and the community to advance the important ongoing initiatives and continue to strengthen what makes Warrenville a wonderful place," White said in the news release.

Mayor David Brummel said that "Warrenville is fortunate to have the opportunity to promote Ms. White from assistant city administrator to city administrator."

"Not only is she devoted to the long-term best interests of the community, she has proven herself to be a consummate professional as well as a fine person," Brummel said in the news release. "She has already served Warrenville for six years with distinction in her current capacity, and I anticipate great things coming for us under her leadership going forward."

White has a master's degree in human resources management from the Keller Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Coakley, 59, was the city's administrator for 24 years.

In late July, he was charged with one misdemeanor count of public indecency. The charge alleges that he "knowingly performed an act of lewd exposure" in the shower area of the men's locker room at a Lifetime Fitness club in Warrenville.

He has pleaded not guilty. His next court date is Sept. 12.
