14th annual Art on the Fox returns to Algonquin's downtown Main Street
A fun-filled festival weekend is in store as Art on the Fox makes a return to the streets of downtown Algonquin on Sept. 10-11.
Hosted by the Village of Algonquin, the fest will showcase the work of 75 of the nation's top juried artists, along with live musical performances and family-friendly activities including sand art, face painting, a graffiti wall, and an interactive kid's art tent. It will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Main and Washington streets downtown.
"Algonquin is looking forward to hosting the 14th annual Art on the Fox this year on our award-winning Main Street," said Algonquin Village President Debbie Sosine. "There will surely be something for everyone, from great art and food, to the wonderful stores and restaurants in our community!"
In addition to exceptional artwork in a variety of price points and mediums, including paintings, ceramics, glass, jewelry, sculpture and more, guests will also be able to enjoy all that the newly renovated downtown Algonquin has to offer including several restaurants just steps away. Start your day at Short Stacks for a hearty breakfast, grab a bite to eat from Cucina Bella for lunch, and make a final pit stop at Clock Tower Cupcakes, where each cupcake is a true work of art.
Art lovers will be able to meet and engage with the artists to gain a better understanding of their work and learn about the different processes and inspirations that go into their creations.
The Algonquin Public Arts Commission will be judging the show, with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Live musical performances are scheduled throughout the festival weekend.
The Cirrus Falcon duo will be playing music from the 1960s through today's hits on Stage 1, and the Ron Steta Trio performs blues and light rock on Stage 2.
Attendees are invited to bring their gently used wall art to the festival where it will be donated to the Chicago Furniture Bank, a local nonprofit that distributes furnishings and art to those leaving shelters and moving into permanent housing.
Several artists from this show are participating in Amdur Productions' Green Ribbon Project.
Artists place a green ribbon on a piece of art in their booth, and if the piece is sold, 10% of the sale will be donated to Amdur's 2022 charitable partner, Make-A-Wish Illinois.
Admission is free and there is plenty of free parking nearby. The festival welcomes dogs as long as they are leashed and friendly.
