Naperville fire officials investigating hotel fire
Naperville Fire Department officials are investigating a Friday afternoon fire at a hotel that caused minor injuries to a woman staying there and a firefighter.
Firefighters arrived at the TownPlace Suites by Marriott, located at 1843 W. Diehl Road, shortly after receiving the call at 12:34 p.m. on Friday. Smoke and flames were found coming from an air conditioning unit outside of the building, fire department officials said.
A woman, her two children and a dog were removed from a second-story room at the hotel, according to officials. While the children did not require transportation to the hospital, the mother was taken to Edward Hospital for evaluation.
Three fire engines, two ladder trucks and two ambulances were part of the response by the Naperville Fire Department. A firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury but did not need additional attention, officials said.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted by the Naperville Police Department. The Lisle-Woodridge Fire District and Wheaton Fire Department provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during the event.
Naperville Fire Department investigators remained at the scene Friday afternoon to determine the cause of the fire. Damage estimates were unavailable.
