Touch-A-Truck and more at Vernon Hills public works open house

Vernon Hills public works is hosting an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at its headquarters, 490 Greenleaf Drive.

Visitors can learn about the equipment and skills needed to maintain the village. Exhibits and activities, Touch-A-Truck, food and giveaways will be featured.

Staff from the fleet and forestry, engineering, streets, grounds, street lighting, building maintenance and signs divisions will be on hand to meet residents, and the Clarke Mosquito & Aquatic Services jet ranger helicopter will be on display.

Lake County public works, Vernon Hills Park District, Countryside Fire Protection District, Solid Waste Agency of Lake County and Cook Memorial Public Library District also will be participating in the free event.
