Live music, fireworks and family fun at annual Wood Dale Prairie Fest

Celebrate summer at the annual Wood Dale Prairie Fest on July 28-31 with live music, fireworks, children's entertainment, a carnival and more.

Festival hours will be 6 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28; 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 29; 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 30; and 1 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at Community Park, off Mittel Drive and Wood Dale Road. Gates open a half-hour prior to the shows.

There will be a Resident Appreciation Night on July 28 with a free $7 food voucher; must show proof of residency.

On Thursday, The Moods will play Motown and R&B from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by Fool House, a '90s dance party band, from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

On Friday, check out the car show from 5 to 9 p.m. while Arra, a classic rock tribute band, takes the stage at 6 p.m., followed by the 1980s dance/pop band 16 Candles at 9 p.m.

Everett Dean & The Lonesome Hearts will kick off the third day of the festival with music from Elvis, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Cowboy Jukebox will bring their country rock sound to the stage at 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

Before the fireworks show at 9:15 p.m., the Lounge Puppets will bring their tribute to '80s hair band at 7:30 p.m.

At 9:45 p.m., after the fireworks, Jefferson Starship, the rock band descended from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Grammy Award winning Jefferson Airplane, will take the stage.

On Sunday, the final day of the festival will kick off with Simply Elton: The Elton John Tribute at 3 p.m., followed by Heartache Tonight, an Eagles tribute, at 5:15 p.m.

The festival will close out with Heart to Heartbreaker: Saluting Women of Rock from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The food vendors include: White Cottage Pizzeria & Italian Cuisine; Get Smashed burgers; tacos and burritos from Taqueria Azteca of Wood Dale; Philly cheesestakes at Flynn D. City Grub; funnel cakes and more from Ashley Foods; Barone's Italian beef; RS Concessions from Italian lemonade and more; and S.I. Promotions Flora's ice cream food truck.

Windy City Amusements will have unlimited ride specials for $30 per person from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. On Friday and Saturday, it will be $35 from 6 to 10 p.m.

Family fun will include balloon art and face painting from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. See the giant bubbles with Glowby the Bubbler from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Free parking for Prairie Fest is available at 160 Hansen Court, 939 N. AEC Drive (and 959 N. AEC Drive on Saturday and Sunday only); 101 Mittel Drive; 201 Mittel Drive; and 750 N. Wood Dale Road.
