Downtown Mount Prospect gets ready to party with music, food and kids' activities

The village of Mount Prospect and the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce welcome residents and visitors to downtown Mount Prospect July 22 and 23 to enjoy a weekend's worth of live musical performances, food and beverages, and the return of the Business Expo.

Admission is free.

The Downtown Block Party will be held at the corner of Emerson Street and Busse Avenue, next to the village hall on Centennial Green, 50 S. Emerson St.

Two full days of free entertainment are scheduled.

The festival opens Friday, July 22, from 4-11 p.m. The party continues Saturday, July 23, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Bring the kids for fun and activities in the Kids' Zone from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. Thanks to generous sponsors, all Kids' Zone activities are free.

The entertainment lineup includes:

Friday July 22:

• 4:30 p.m. Six on Friday

• 6:30 p.m. Kevin Purcell and the Nightburners

• 9 p.m. 16 Candles

Saturday July 23:

• Noon Collision

• 2 p.m. Big Brothers Vinyl

• 4 p.m. Blackberry Jam

• 6:30 p.m. Fletcher Rockwell

• 9 p.m. Boy Band Review

No party is complete without food. Indulge in Mount Prospect's local favorites, from pizza, tacos, gyros, and hot dogs to ice cream and cakes. Beer, wine and specialty beverages will be available.
