Chicago Blackhawks sign forwards Domi, Anthanasiou to one-year deals
As expected, the Blackhawks didn't make any big splashes as free agency opened Wednesday.
They did, however, ink forwards Max Domi and Andreas Anthanasiou to matching one-year, $3 million contracts. Both veterans are capable scorers who may prove to be valuable trade pieces once the deadline approaches next season.
The 27-year-old Domi scored 11 goals and had 28 assists in 72 games for Columbus and Carolina last season. He scored the game-winning goal in the Hurricanes' Game 7 victory over the Bruins in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Domi has scored 15 or more goals three times, with a career high of 28 in 2018-19 with Montreal. He has 101 goals in 501 career games.
Anthanasiou is a talented player, but has battled injuries of late. He scored 11 times last season in just 28 games with the Los Angeles Kings.
Anthanasiou has six double-digit goal seasons under his belt, with a career high of 30 in 2018-19 with Detroit.
The Hawks also signed four other players Wednesday:
• Forward Colin Blackwell got a two-year, $2.4 million deal. Blackwell, who was with Toronto and Seattle last season, has 22 goals in his last 105 games.
• Goalie Alex Stalock inked a one-year, $750,000 deal. Stalock, who missed the 2021 campaign with a heart condition, will back up Petr Mrazek. Stalock spent most of last season in the AHL and had just an .869 save percentage in 17 appearances.
• Forwards Luke Philp and Brett Seney got two-way deals worth $750,000 if they are in the NHL. Philp scored 22 goals for the AHL's Stockton Heat. He has yet to appear in the NHL. Seney scored 17 goals for the AHL's Toronto Marlies and has 55 games of NHL experience.

Kane, Toews, Jones update
Pierre LeBrun reported that Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Seth Jones will weigh their options before deciding what to do in the wake of the Hawks' tear down of their roster last week. LeBrun spoke with agent Pat Brisson, who represents all three players. Brisson said the trio "will let the dust settle first and patiently make the best decisions for each player as it pertains to their respective careers."
Odds and ends
• Forward Dominik Kubalik, who struggled with consistency the last two seasons with the Blackhawks, signed a two-year, $5 million deal with the Detroit Red Wings.
• Former Hawks goalie Collin Delia and defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk both signed with Vancouver.
• Andrew Poturalski, who led the AHL with 101 points and captained the Chicago Wolves to a Calder Cup championship, signed a two-year deal with the Seattle Kraken. Poturalski called it a "really good opportunity."
• Stefan Noesen, who scored 48 goals for the Wolves last season, re-signed with Carolina. That two-year deal was inked Tuesday. The Wolves are Carolina's AHL affiliate.
