Moose Lodge to host fundraiser for accident victim
The Moose Lodge in Mount Prospect will hold a benefit Saturday, July 16, for an area resident who is recovering from injuries suffered when he and his wheelchair were stuck by a hit-and-run motorist last summer on Elmhurst Road.
Marc Giolli, who has spina bifida and is a paraplegic, suffered life-threatening injuries and continues to require physical therapy and medical attention. The benefit will help his family defray some of the medical costs not covered by insurance.
The fundraiser and celebration of Giolli's recovery will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Prospect Moose Lodge #660, 601 N. Main St. in Mount Prospect. There will be food available for purchase at a hot dog cart from 5-8 p.m. Water and beverages also will be available for purchase throughout the day.
Various raffles, prizes and donations will help raise money for the Giolli family. Admission is free.
Last summer, Giolli, 54, was crossing Elmhurst Road near his home when he was stuck by a driver who fled the scene. He was hospitalized for three months. A 22-year-old driver was later arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
