After rash of break-ins, Wheaton police warn residents to lock vehicles

A wave of vehicle burglaries has been reported across Wheaton over the past month, the police department said.

Multiple residents have reported thieves smashed car windows and took valuable items such as purses, jewelry and credit cards.

Authorities said the burglaries have taken place during daytime hours at fitness centers, sports complexes and parks.

Wheaton police advise residents to keep their vehicles locked and not to leave valuables inside.
