Crab Du Jour debuts
Like seafood boils? You're in luck, as Cajun-inspired seafood restaurant Crab Du Jour is debuting its first Chicago-area location in Melrose Park with a grand opening at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, featuring a ribbon-cutting and tasting. Besides the eatery's signature seafood boils, which are sold by the half-pound ($7.50-$14.50) or pound ($13.99-$28.99) in three heat levels with potatoes and corn, the menu also offers a variety of seafood, steaks, wings, cheeseburgers and cocktails, such as the Swedish Fish (rum, grenadine, watermelon juice and lemonade) and Tipsy Mermaid (coconut rum, lime juice, pineapple juice and blue curacao). Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Don't be crabby
If you're a fan of soft-shell crab, Truluck's has a special tailor-made for you Thursday through Sunday, July 14-17. The upscale seafood restaurant will be serving the limited-time entree of two deep-fried Yucatan soft-shell crabs over a bed of creamed spinach with grilled asparagus and onion salad drizzled with roasted pepper aioli for $44. An appetizer portion featuring one crab is $22.

Bastille Day dinner
In honor of France's Bastille Day on Thursday, July 14, Aboyer chef Michael Lachowicz is offering a $75 three-course, prix fixe menu from 5-9 p.m. at his French brasserie in Winnetka. The meal includes a glass of NV Champagne, Charles Ellner, Carte Blanche; escargot bourguignon en croute, gateau of crab or Nichol's Farm summer corn soup; hanger steak, stuffed breast of hen or thyme-crusted filet of Grand Banks swordfish; and souffle au chocolat or creme caramel.
