No injuries after SUV crashes into Schaumburg townhouse

Schaumburg police said no one was injured when an SUV crashed into the side of a townhouse garage Thursday afternoon on the 300 block of Pembroke Court.

Police said the unidentified driver and a passenger were southbound on Pembroke Court when the collision occurred. The driver told investigators he had stopped at the stop sign and began driving into the intersection when he swerved to avoid another vehicle turning from eastbound Weathersfield Way onto northbound Pembroke, police said.

The driver told police instead of hitting the brakes, he accidentally stepped on the gas and crashed into the townhouse garage.

Police said the driver of the SUV was cited for failing to yield and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

No damage estimate to the townhouse was available.
