Burglars take cash from Wheaton library cafe

Burglars stole $1,000 to $2,000 in cash from a cafe inside the Wheaton Public library last week, police said.

Police believe at least four adults were involved in the burglary at the Altiro Wheaton Coffee Shop, Lt. Ryan Conway said. The burglary suspects have been identified, police said Tuesday, but the investigation is ongoing.

The burglary happened about 10:30 p.m. June 8.

Police on Monday asked for the public's help identifying suspects in the burglary and received an "overwhelming number of responses," according to a city statement. If or when charges are filed, officials will release information through the city's media channels, Conway said.

"All individuals have been identified, and further information will be released at the conclusion of our investigation," the city's statement read.

The coffee shop last year moved into the cafe space overlooking Adams Park. The owners of Altiro Latin Fusion - a restaurant group with locations in downtown Wheaton, Aurora and Geneva - filled the cafe previously occupied by I Have a Bean.
