Schaumburg High LEAD Club holds clothing drive for WINGS

On Saturday, April 23, the Schaumburg High School Saxons LEAD Club hosted a clothing donation drive for the WINGS program in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

WINGS provides a pathway to independence for adults and children who are escaping domestic violence and abuse. The goal of the WINGS program is to provide the tools and support necessary to ensure that survivors can escape their abusers and begin building new lives.

WINGS oversees safe homes, shared homes and transitional housing in and around the Chicago area to help end the cycle of domestic abuse. WINGS has been a leading advocate in the Chicago area for 37 years.

The Schaumburg High School students and staff were invited to donate clothing before school. On Saturday, the donation drive was extended to the Schaumburg community.

"The donation drive was a complete success. We collected over 100 bags," said Rachael Kahan, Schaumburg High School teacher and Saxons LEAD sponsor.
