Student-designed Mini Libraries Installed at St. Emily School
Over the winter St. Emily School announced that two mini libraries would be donated to the school and installed by the Mount Prospect Library Mission.
Students were then encouraged to submit artwork to the library design contest. Two winners were selected, one from grades prekindergarten through third, and one from grades four through eight. Winners were Madison Rosa, Grade 3 and Ashley Laskiewicz, Grade 6.
The winning designs were painted onto the libraries which were then installed outside St. Emily School on April 21. Students were on hand to help install, and add the first books to the library boxes. The St. Emily mini libraries can be found near the east and west corners of the school, 1400 E Central Rd. Mt. Prospect.
Mini libraries from the Mt. Prospect Library Mission are free book-sharing boxes, where anyone may take or share a book. They are built with the purpose of promoting literacy, building community, inspiring readers and expanding book access for all.
