$4.37 million intersection project in Woodridge to start next month

The DuPage County Division of Transportation plans to begin a $4.37 million intersection widening project at 87th Street and Woodward Avenue in Woodridge early next month.

Crews will widen the pavement to construct dual left-turn lanes in the northbound, eastbound, and westbound directions. Right-turn lanes will be added in the eastbound and westbound directions. The project also calls for a new traffic signal as well as storm sewer and sidewalk improvements.

"This project will help to reduce congestion on 87th Street and Woodward Avenue, which will also improve the overall safety of the intersection," county board member and transportation committee Chairman Don Puchalski said in a statement.

Lane closures will be needed to complete the roadwork. Construction is expected to wrap up at the end of the year.
