Maple Streets Concerts to host 'An Evening with Dennis Warner' April 23
Singer-songwriter Dennis Warner is returning to Maple Street Chapel for an evening of song and stories on Saturday, April 23.
The Maple Street Concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Maple Street Chapel, 220 S. Main St. in Lombard. Admission is $20 and tickets can be reserved on www.maplestreetchapel.org.
Toward the beginning of the pandemic, Warner released his 11th album, "Pilot Me," which debuted on the Folk DJ radio charts at No. 8 in August 2020. He was among the top 10 for Artist of the Month.
His breakthrough album, "Seeds," was named one of the best CDs of 2012 in folk music, based on radio play around the world. Folk DJ also named him one of the top artists in folk music that year. Midnight Special host Rich Warren designated "Seeds" as his "CD Pick of the Week" on his nationally syndicated show.
2018 was a big year for Warner. Early that year, he was invited to the RoundGlass Music Awards in New York City celebrating "Enlightened musicians from around the globe who create music to make the world a better place." A few months later, Warner was honored to perform for the Parliament of the World's Religions in Toronto, where 7,500 attendees representing 230 different faiths from around the planet gathered finding ways to coexist in our diverse world.
Early in 2020, Warner was featured on the popular PBS TV show "Backroads." Produced by Lakeland Public Broadcasting, the sold-out concert celebrated his original music and was syndicated throughout the PBS network.
Warner is a two-time McKnight Foundation Artist Award winner and three-time finalist for the prestigious Kerrville Folkfest songwriting awards, co-founded by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary.
His "Beads on One String" book, now in its seventh printing, celebrates our "connectedness" with each other and features a positive behavior curriculum for elementary schools, currently being used throughout the U.S. and internationally as well. In 2021, Warner signed an agreement with STEPi/Utopia Foundation to distribute up to 20,000 books throughout Africa. Warner will follow up with an African tour when it is safe to do so COVID-wise. His concerts blend serious, thought provoking songs with lighter, up-tempo material. Warner is noted for being an entertainer, bringing the audience into the performance with laughter and even a couple of singalongs.
Warner is excited to return to the Maple Street Chapel saying, "This is a very special room to perform in. The fabulous acoustics, the rich history and the sheer beauty of the building make it a favorite spot for touring musicians. I am looking forward to singing again in the chapel."
