Route 59 lane closure to begin Monday in West Chicago

The right lane of southbound Route 59, between Forest and Glen avenues in West Chicago will close beginning Monday, April 11, weather permitting.

Illinois Department of Transportation officials said the closure is necessary to remove and rebuild the concrete retaining wall on the west side of Route 59. At least one southbound lane will remain open. Work is expected to be completed in early November.

Motorists should allow extra time for trips through the area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
