Batavia Legal Aid volunteers offer help with legal issues

Believing that no one should face confusing legal challenges alone, the Congregational Church of Batavia opened the Batavia Legal Aid Clinic in May 2021.

Through the work of our volunteers, committed to justice for all, the clinic has helped more than 30 members of our community.

This includes single parents, senior citizens, veterans, and everyday people who may be struggling with legal issues.

There are opportunities for more volunteers to help serve additional clients.

No particular skills are required, and training is provided for a variety of roles. Volunteer opportunities include: attorney, client advocate, community advocate, prayer champion, client intake specialist, hospitality specialist, interpreter, or follow-up advocate. All volunteers are trained through the online AJ Academy with short courses for each role that can be accessed at any time.

The Batavia Legal Aid Clinic is working with Administer Justice, a nonprofit organization who partners with churches to provide low-cost legal aid.

The clinic is open from 5 to 8 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month, for those needing the help of a lawyer.
