Irving Park Road resurfacing will start Monday

Patching and resurfacing of Irving Park Road from Liberty Street in Elgin to Sutton Road in Streamwood will require daytime and occasional overnight lane closures beginning Monday, weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation has announced.

The $2.3 million project involves resurfacing the 3.8-mile stretch of Irving Park Road, constructing new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps and replacing deteriorated curbs. Work is expected to be completed in early October. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
